Roadtrip 2018 Fall: Vancouver - Yakima - Bend - Carson City - Lone Pine - Palm Desert - Sedona - Palm Desert - Paso Robles - Calistoga - Brookings - Yachats - Cannon Beach - Vancouver

Day 40 - Sedona to Palm Desert

No gas may get the best mileage - but it sure doesn't get you very far.

A quiet corner at Oak Creek Espresso - as we sip our last coffees in Sedona.

A giant dorsal fin reminds us of the dangers of the Landshark, a rare, but extremely unpredictable desert denizen.

Definitiely worth a few moments to enjoy this rest stop view.

It always bears repeating (and chanting) Rule #47 of photography: "Every picture is better with a red canoe."

Saguaro Fields Forever...

Best land deal in Arizona.

Out in the wilds of US Highway 60, people take their point defence seriously. This fellow not only will shoot down the first couple of invaders, but is also completely ready for Mutual Assured Destruction with his Doomsday Device.

We think our friend George would have this one sold in no time whatsoever. Yes of course the horse is included.

Between polishing the Doomsday Device and watching the Lakers, there is nothing much else to do except pray.

After many hours, there is only 1/2 an hour left until we reach Blythe.

We discover Jabba the Hut - thoroughly relaxed and enjoying retirement at Desert Centre.

My favourite gas station in the desert. It never seems to change.

When Jabba gets a little irritated, he just wanders on over and tears up the abandonded gas station a bit more. Truly, it's a perfect situation.

Another farewell to Desert Centre - there's a little less of it each time we visit.

It has been a long day on the road. We've had a sushi feast. Now it's puppy time in the big comfy chairs so nicely placed in downtown Palm Desert.

Christmas has reached the desert.

The Desert palms are ready for a wild and raucous holiday season. The rest of sleepy Palm Desert may need a little cajoling.
